Sports Day

On 13th December, 2015, St Joseph’s Evening College conducted its Annual Sports Meet at St Joseph’s College of Commerce which was headed by the Sports Coordinator, Prof. Albert Smith. The bright Sunday began with a march past by the students of SJEC which was backed by inspiring themes like, ‘Anti-piracy’, ‘Go-green’, ‘Pray for Paris’, etc,. Each class portrayed their themes in a creative approach through their elegant marching. The first price for March past was won by III Bcom B for the theme ‘Farmers Plight’. The second prize was backed by II Bcom B for the theme ‘World Peace’, and the third place was won by the students of III Bcom A for the theme ‘Save Farmers’. The torch was lit by Fr. Rector and the members of the students council Rakshith, Vinod, Seema, Naveen, Ranjith, Javed, Sanjay and Albert carried the torch to its final destination to show that the torch is a manifestation of the positive values that man has always associated with the symbolism of fire. The next event was a prayer song by Elton, Sr. Lucy and by Sr. Regina to bring in the presence of God throughout the sports day. The prayer song was followed by the welcome address by Fr. Maxim Dias SJ, Principal of St Joseph’s Evening College. The chief guest of the sports ceremony was the Rector of St. Joseph Institutions, Fr. Anthony Joseph SJ and the controller of examination, Mr. Joseph Roche. The Vice Principal of SJEC, Prof. Joy Alex and all the teaching and non-teaching staff presided over the sports day. The teachers of SJEC also had a gala time as sports were been conducted for them too. The teachers had a fun filled time by playing the game ‘Bombing the Cities’. There was sumptuous food provided for the students as well as for the teachers.

Among boys the individual championship was won by Abdul Javed of III BA and among girls the individual championship was backed by Meena of I Mcom. The overall championship was won by the students of III BA. The sports day was a grand success due to the support of Fr. Principal, Prof. Albert Smith. The sports secretaries, other members of the student’s council, teaching as well as non-teaching staff also made the day a grand success. Back
