Radhika. C. A
The agitation by farmers on Delhi’s borders has captured headlines across the world. For more than a month, the farmers have been braving the cold, rain and police barricades to raise their demands. The staff of St. Joseph’s Evening College (Autonomous) discussed the issue extensively on January 19 and January 21, 2021.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Radhika C. A, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The moderator, Dr. Radhika C. A initiated the discussion by introducing the issue, and emphasising on the media’s callousness in the reportage of the farmers’ protest.

Dr. Paul Newman, HOD, Department of History explained the farm bill in detail. Mr Jerrin Chandan, HOD, Department of English discussed his views on the issue. The discussion sparked everyone’s interest and the staff members fervently expressed their views about the ongoing farmers’ protest. The pros and cons of the new farm bill were deliberated. The Director of SJEC, Rev. Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, and the Principal, Dr. Albert Smith were present for the discussion.
