On November 30,2019, St. Joseph Evening College in collaboration with the Department of Public Instructions, Government of Karnataka facilitated B Com and BBA students to create basic social awareness for students in government schools. This initiative is part of the Bembala Outreach Programme that is organised for students to experience life at village and to inculcate a spirit of social concern among students. The youth of SJEC created awareness about personal hygiene, garbage segregation, waste management and ‘say no to plastic’ among students in 50 government schools across Bangalore.
The awareness was created through programs such as story-telling, action songs, quiz, pledge taking. The students also did campus cleaning as part of their outreach programme.“ The experience changed young minds and their approach towards garbage segregation ,effective waste management changed. We had a good time,” says Twinkle Samuel, l BBA. A special certificate from the government of Karnataka will be awarded to St. Joseph evening college.
