Child labor

AICUF at St. Joseph’s Evening College observed World Day against Child Labor on 12th June, 2018.
The program was conducted in the long break at 6:55 pm in the college quadrangle where students and staff gathered in huge numbers to take part in it. A long banner in cloth material was prepared by the AICUF students to start up a signature campaign to say no to Child Labor.
First of all, before the break, current facts were shared through the Public Address System of the College. During the break, a short documentary was put up on the screen which included the current scenarios in our country and pictures which depicted the terrible plight of children below the age of 14 years who are made to work and denied wages.
All the college students along with lecturers and other non-teaching staffs were asked to join the signature campaign and add their own slogans in the banner. In it was written “WE THE JOSEPHITES PROMISE TO SAY NO TO CHILD LABOUR ANDYES TO QUALITY EDUCATION”. There were a number of people who actively took part in this program. The students were happy to sign the promissory note.
We had a very good response from various staff and students. The crowd was enormous in the quadrangle and at the end of the day, our objective to take the promise from the people to avoid child labor in our country was achieved.
Thank you
