EJP (English, Journalism, Psychology)

The pieces of prose, poetry, articles and audio-visual texts chosen for the semesters have been selected in order to nurture, develop and educated and to imbibe the values to human beings for the future. Theme-based selection and organization of texts has not been followed. The texts cover a wide range of ideas from history to economics to social responsibility. The representation of texts from Indian writers and languages is included to expose our learners to the many “Indians of the mind.”

Description (Grammar and Communication Skills)
There will be a glossary, probing questions, information about the author and suggestions for extended reading included in the textbook at the end of each lesson. Grammar components will be described and explained followed by exercises. This is intended to strengthen the vocabulary; aid reading comprehension; and help improve grammar, reading and writing skills. With each semester, the grammar and communication skills components will be progressively graded to aid development of skills that would help learners in day to day communication and academic pursuits preparing them for their professional endevours in future. Emphasis will be on all the basic skills of language and analysis and critical appreciation of texts. Inclusion of the audio-visual text will contribute towards this objective.

Journalism
The Journalism course is specially designed to give the students an overall idea towards the subject. It aims at making students more competent for a career in print, Electronic, online and other related areas like Advertising, PR, Film making etc. There are eight core papers in journalism, which covers different areas of Journalism and Mass Communication. The theory papers are intended to give the student a deeper understanding of the subject and field. The practical and skill-based papers will go a long way in equipping them for the carrier. It is perceived that, the course based on understanding of various subjects, gives a journalist viewpoint in evaluating the issues, and write meticulously, in the suitable circumstance with accurate view for the readers.

Psychology
Psychology is the systematic and scientific study of human behaviour, its mental processes and environment. Psychology is one of the major subjects offered at the undergraduate level as part of the triple major programme. It is a three-year full time course aimed at introducing students to the fundamental processes underlying human behaviour and familiarize them with a few emerging fields and branches of psychology such as Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial Psychology & Consumer Behaviour, Health Psychology and Counselling Psychology. The course also includes two papers of Practical, Statistics and Group Research Projects.

Eligibility criteria for the courses
Documents required
1. SSLC or 10th Standard or its equivalent marks card (Original)
2. PUC or 10+2 marks card (Original)
3. Caste certificate (if required Original)
4. Transfer Certificate (Original)
5. Migration certificate for the students coming from outside Karnataka and CBSE/ICSE Students (Original)
6. 6 Passport size and 2 stamp size colour photographs.
7. The students belong to SC/ST and other categories should submit photo copies of caste certificate, income certificate while applying for students scholarships.
