History
Department of History in St. Joseph’s Evening College truly believes in the saying ‘What memory is to man, History is to Mankind’. If memory goes sanity goes with it’. To save mankind from going insane, learning lessons from history is absolutely essential. The Department of History has designed a curriculum comprising of eight papers for Undergraduate Course. First and Second Semester students study the History and Culture of India which is in fact a strong foundation to the study of history. Subjects like ‘History of China and Japan’, ‘West Asia’, ‘Modern World’ are included to give the students a better understanding of contemporary international issues. This enhances their general awareness. The curriculum is designed keeping in mind the students who aspire to take up competitive examinations. As Tourism is an expanding industry a paper on ‘Study of Tourism’ is included to make the course job oriented.
Economics
The Department of Economics is constantly working and catering to the requirements of the students. The Department is endeavouring to provide an exhaustive exposure to Principles and Practices of the present day economic world. The Department aims at providing a firm foundation of knowledge about the working of the Economy and to develop relevant skills for constructive use of that knowledge.
Various papers offered by the Department in the course of six semesters deal with different aspects of the study of Economics. Each paper has its own relevance and significance.
The Study of 'Micro and Macro Economics' in the First Three Semesters help the students to understand the basic economic concepts and their application in real life. The Study of 'International Economies' enable the students to understand and analyze economic interdependence among nations. The subject 'Development Economics' helps the students to comprehend various issues and policies of developing economics. 'Entrepreneurial Development Programme' a relevant paper in Fifth Semester helps to inculcate the spirit of Entrepreneurship among students. 'Indian Economic Issues' and 'Indian Banking System' the papers prescribed in sixth Semester enable students to understand important issues and problems of Indian economy and familiarize them with structure, organization and working of the financial system in India. Hence the Department of Economics aims to impart a comprehensive knowledge in different fields.
Political science
The Dept. of Political Science combines classroom teaching with exercises that provide students with political exposure/ Current affairs Class lectures are supplemented with audio-visual aids, models, demos, project work, group discussion and seminars. Students gain scrupulous knowledge of political theory on one hand, and the application of political principles on the other. This approach equips students to understand the shades of political dynamics. The stress on virtues in Political beliefs and Enunciate techniques of proficiency in management and administration. While Perceiving Regional, National and International Political equations and understanding its impact. The Subject encourage Nurturing Political leaders with a sense of probity, integrity and service ability and stirring Political consciousness and involvement in Political affairs, which will help in preparing students for competitive examinations Civil Service.

3. Caste certificate (if required Original)
4. Transfer Certificate (Original)
5. Migration certificate for the students coming from outside Karnataka and CBSE/ICSE Students (Original)
6. 6 Passport size and 2 stamp size colour photographs.
7. The students belong to SC/ST and other categories should submit photo copies of caste certificate, income certificate while applying for students scholarships.
