Reporting and Editing in Journalism
A guest lecture titled "Reporting and Editing in Journalism" was held on August 28, 2017 at St. Joseph's Evening College for the 2nd year Journalism students.
The resource person, Mr. Ashish Roy, works as a reporter at Deccan Herald, Bangalore and is an alumnus of our college (batch of 2011-14). He was marvellous as a radio script writer at college and is an enthusiastic reporter now.
He started the session with a question: "What is News?", and then continued by explaining the basics of news reporting. The session contained information on reporting techniques and its contents, the 5W's and 1H, crisp content writing style, and other related topics.
He spoke passionately of the importance of citizen reporting and political influence on media.
He concluded with an incident form his life in which spoke about the concept of women and journalism. The session ended with Sr. Sally giving a vote of thanks. One of the students from the class, Yajur, shared his thoughts about the session
The program was very effective and interesting; the students benefited a lot from it.
