Biography :
Dr. Paul Newman has taught history for the past 25 years at various institutions in Bangalore. He is a prolific writer, researcher and speaker. He specializes in human rights related subjects and has travelled extensively across the world. He addressed the Malaysian Parliamentary Caucus on Sri Lanka on “Why Malaysia should vote against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC 2013”,February 18th 2013 and again on “The ongoing structural Genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka”, November 13th 2014 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Delivered the Prof.C.J.Elizer Memorial Lecture on ‘Human Rights in South Asia’ at Monash University, Melbourne, August 18th, 2013. He is a Reviewer at State University of New York, USA and has delivered guest lectures at the Utica College, New York apart from being a resource person at the UGC Academic Staff Colleges at Bangalore, Mysore and Calicut. He is an Observer and participant at the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, Switzerland since 2012. He was member of the fact finding team on the state response after the Cyclone Ockhi in Southern Tamilnadu and Kerala in December 2017. He addressed the European Union MEPs on 18th May 2018 at the European Parliament, Brussels. He was a special guest speaker at the First Yazidi Genocide Conference at Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, August 2018. He was also one of the International Observer’s at the Catalonian referendum trials at Madrid, Spain, February to June 2019. He is a recognised PhD guide at Bharathiyar University Coimbatore. He is also a NCC Officer holding the highest rank of Squadron Leader.
