Objective of the Topics
The topics give you an overview of communication and introduce you to the main elements in the communication process. It also highlights the importance of writing clear, positive messages and offers you some basic tips and guidelines on this form of communication so that you may become more proficient in the kind of writing needed at home as well as in the college and workplace. You will also learn about some of the common pitfalls which may impede the effectiveness of written communication.

Examination
a. End Semester examination: There shall be an End Semester examination at the end of each academic semester with a maximum of 70 marks per paper.
b. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) Marks: Each paper shall have 30 marks for internal assessment, consisting of one unit test carrying 10 marks and two assignments in any form ( Quiz, presentation, class test, or in any academic form) in the academic semester, each carrying 7.5 .

Attendance, Progress and Conduct
a. Students have to compulsorily attend the classes, seminars and other academic activities conducted during the academic year as prescribed by the Department.b. Students shall be considered to have completed the attendance requirements if they have attended not less than 75% of the classes conducted in each of the paper.c. Students who do not satisfy the attendance requirements will not be permitted to appear for End Semester examinations.

Question Paper format
The paper consists of 3 sections. 10 questions of 2 marks. 4 Questions of 5 marks and 1 question of 10 marks with internal choice. There shall be two questions from each of the five units in each paper.
