Orientation programme report
The Orientation programme for the 2nd and 3rd year students for the academic year 2017-18 was conducted on the 29th and 30th of May 2017 in the St. Josephs boys high school auditorium.
Programme on the 29th of May
The programme started as per schedule at 5:15 Pm with an invocation prayer by Mr. Jerrin Chandan, department of English, and a team of students. The students were welcomed by Mr. Mohamad Umair to the new academic year. This was followed by a session on the 10 essential life skills by Mr. John Paul. The session went in detail about 10 life skills namely self awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking decision making, problem solving, effective communication, interpersonal relations, coping with stress and coping with emotions. It was followed by a session on reinforcement of rules and regulations, certificate and diploma courses, CIA and Credit system and CBCS by Prof. Joy Alex, Dr. Kanishka, and Mr. Mohamad Umair respectively. The day ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Leo Gladwin.
Prgramme on the 30th of May 2017
The second days programme started with refreshments that were served to all students and parents. The formal programme started at 5:15 as per schedule with a prayer organized by Mr. Albert Smith and Mr. Jerrin Chandan along with a team of students. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaris on the dais as well as a student representative and a parent representative. Mr. Diwakar P welcomed the gathering. Rev.Fr. Maxim Dias S.J, Principal, St. Josephs Evening college addressed the gathering. He spoke about the new initiatives of the college as well as the need to cultivate good habbits for learning. Rev. Fr. Jason Futardo. S.J, Secretary and Treasurer of BJES addressed the gathering and wished the students all the best for the coming academic year. Prof. Joy Alex, Vice principal, briefly explained the rules and regulations, clubs and association, certificate and diploma courses, CIA and Credit system and CBCS to both parents and Students. It was followed by a session on work life balance by Mr. Prashanth Kumar. He spoke about the need to balance work, education and family. This was specifically designed keeping in mind the students of the evening college. It was followed by a talk by Mrs. Gretta Futardo about the need to take care of an individual’s mental health and to inculcate good habits for a successful life. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Dav Fod the organizing co-ordinator of the programme. The students dispersed after the national anthem.
