The orientation for the first year postgraduate students was held on October 1, 2020. Ms
Maryanne Pais invoked God’s choicest blessing on the August gathering. Dr Priya, the vice-
principal extended a warm welcome to everyone present. Dr Albert Joseph Smith, the principal
addressed the students on the importance of research culture and the value of post-graduate
programme.
Mr Jerrin Chandan, the coordinator briefed the gathering about St. Ignatius of Loyola, the
founder of Society of Jesus and provided a brief history of St. Joseph’s Evening College. This was
followed by exposition on the vision and mission of the institution by Dr. Kanishka. Mr. Ravi
Richard enlightened the students about autonomy and the responsibility that comes with that
privilege.
Dr. Balaji presented an online teaching-learning policy to the students who were curious about
the teaching and learning process given the present circumstances. Ms Shilpa Nataraj, the
student governor, provided a clear picture of the activities of student council. Mr Leo Gladwin,
the placement officer spoke about the job opportunities. Mr John Bosco, the CoE explained the
examination matrix to the new bunch of students. Dr Rekha and Ms Maryanne spoke about the
‘relevance of wellbeing and its impact on learning outcomes’. After a quick feedback session, Dr
Pawan presented the vote of thanks.
