On the occasion of sixty-fourth Kannada Rajyotsava, the Kannada Sangha of St Joseph's Evening College (Autonomous) organised the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration on November 30, 2019.The programme started with the state anthem followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries present. The guest of honour for the day was Mr. Shantharaju , Vice-Principal, and HoD of Kannada Department, Vijaya Evening Degree College, Bangalore.
Mr. Raju, in his talk, raised awareness regarding the importance of Kannada language. He said, "Every individual in a society should learn a minimum of two languages to survive in this country, and in that one should be your mother tongue.”
Mr. Prashanth Kumar, Governor, Student Council surprised the audience by narrating a poem. Later, the dignitaries distributed certificates to the winners of intra-collegiate competition, ‘Sinchana’ which was held in the month of July.
Mr. Lakshmi Narayan from National College performed a stand-up comedy. Students of SJEC performed a fashion show representing various important cities and regions of Karnataka. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Pavan Nadig, IV MA, JMC. The event was organised by Mr. H.V Thyagaraj, Faculty Co-ordinator of Kannada Sangha. Dr. K.M. Mathew, HoD, Kannada Department was also present during the programme.
