St Joseph's Evening College had their outreach from November 30 to December 3, 2017. The students were safely escorted to Harobele Church. As soon as we reached, refreshments were provided and we were divided into 9 groups consisting of 8 members each. On the first day of the outreach, we woke up at 6 a.m. We had an assembly and then we had a jogging session for 3 kms followed by some stretches. We were asked to go for trekking but due to bad weather conditions we had it cancelled. We had a memorable day by cleaning the entire campus. There were a lot of activities such as meeting the villagers and understanding their lifestyles.
Their prime occupation is sericulture. We visited the Arkavathi dam and then organised a skit for the village. The response was amazing. We were able to plant some saplings as well. In our interaction with the people, they accepted us very warmly. We learned cooking and the art of managing with the resources given.
The whole exposure was a very beautiful one. The teachers were one amongst us and worked amongst us. It was a very meaningful and refreshing experience for the students; we look forward to another beautiful outreach like this. We would like to thank Joswin Sir and Shilpa Ma’am for assisting us in each and every activity, and a special thanks to St Joseph’s Evening College for giving us such a wonderful experience.
