0n January 20, Loyola College, Manvi in collaboration with St. Joseph's Evening College
(Autonomous) & St. Joseph's College of Commerce (Autonomous) organised a one-day national
seminar on " Innovations in Higher Education".
The national seminar was inaugurated by Dr. C. Somashekar , Registrar, Gulbarga University,
Kalaburgi; Dr B.K. Tulasimala , Registrar, VSK university, Bellari ; Dr Albert Joseph Smith,
Principal St. Joseph's Evening College; Rev. Fr. Arun Luis SJ, and Zakir Pasha, Loyola College.
The guest of honour, Dr. C. Somashekar, Registrar, Gulbarga University, Kalaburgi, spoke about
quality and quantity of present education in the society. “Our universities should provide quality
education as well as technological innovation to our student's due to which our country will
progress intellectually,” he said.
The keynote speaker of the seminar, Dr B.K. Tulasimala, Registrar, VSK University, Bellari
congratulated SJEC and SJCC for supporting Loyola College in organising this seminar
especially in a rural place such as Manvi. "Education pattern in the rural Karnataka must be
improved drastically, especially the technological innovations should be given more importance,
and quality of education should be the topmost priority of all the universities to enhance the
knowledge of students," she added.
The seminar also featured talks and panel discussions on the topic. Several teachers and students
from SJEC participated in the conference.
