St. Joseph’s Evening College (Autonomous) celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September 2018 at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School auditorium at 6.45 pm. All the students stood up to welcome the Director, Principal, Vice-Principal, teaching staff and non- teaching staff. The program started off as the anchors gave a brief account on what Teacher’s Day is. The SJEC choir presented a prayer song along with a Bible verse which was followed by prayer. The students and the teachers stood up for the College Anthem. The Director, Principal, Vice-Principal, and teachers lit the lamp with the choir singing along. The welcome speech was delivered by Vinayak. This was followed by another song from the SJEC choir. Then, there was poetry recitation from the Department of English by Dominic, from the Kannada Sangham by Harish, from the Hindi Pariksha by Risabh, and from the Department of Tamil by Vimala.
There was a gift presentation to the teachers by members of the Student Council of SJEC. After the gift presentation, the anchors welcomed the Principal Dr. Albert Smith to address the gathering. He greeted the teachers and congratulated the Student Council and the Alumni for conducting the Teacher’s Day program. Prizes were then distributed to teachers who participated in sports conducted on 2nd September 2018 as part of teacher’s day celebration. It was followed by a dance from Sridhar and team. After the dance, there was a surprise visit from Fr. Brian Pereira, Rector and Vice-President of the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society. He wished all the teachers and gave a short speech. This was followed by a one-act play by the students of M.A. English. The teachers then presented a dance. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered and the program ended with the National Anthem.
