Teachers’ Day celebrations were held on 5 th September, 2019 at 6:00 PM in St. Joseph’s Boys High
School auditorium. It began with a short prayer, followed by the felicitation of the teachers by the
student council and class representatives. Students from each course then shared their experience
at St. Joseph’s Evening College, and the role that their teachers have played in their lives. The
Principal also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the various aspects of a student’s life that a
teacher impacts.
The cultural programme comprised of a play by the undergraduate students that emphasised the
influence of teachers on a child’s life. The choir sang a song titled ‘Nothing is Impossible’. The MA
English students performed a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice that was well
received.
The highlight of the cultural programme was the teachers’ dance. The students and the staff were
amazed by the talent and creativity of the teachers that participated in the dance.
The programme was greatly appreciated by the staff of the college. It made them feel loved and
valued, and showed them how much their students cared for them.
