St. Joseph’s Evening College (SJEC) organized the Valedictory Ceremony of the Clubs and Associations on 11th March 2020, at St. Joseph’s Boys High School Auditorium. The program was organized to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts and contributions of the students. It motivates the juniors and also kindles the spirit of MAGIS and work hard for a greater cause. The dignitaries for the day were Rev. Fr. Jason Furtado, Treasurer and Secretary, Karnataka State Jesuit Province, Lt. Commander. Bipin Kumar Shukla, Indian Navy, alumnus of SJEC, Dr. Albert Joseph Smith, Principal, SJEC, Dr. Priya, Vice-principal, SJEC and Mr. John Bosco, the Coordinator, Valedictory ceremony of Associations, SJEC.
The ceremony commenced with a prayer song invoking the blessings of the divine. Dr. Albert Joseph Smith, the Principal introduced the dignitaries and welcomed the gathering. He also acknowledged the students’ contributions towards college and said, “I take a stock at the contributions made by you to our college and the value created by you is remarkable. Through your work you have welcomed change and accepted change in order to make us adaptable to anything in this ever-changing world.” Followed by his welcome speech, the guest for the day were honored by the college management.
Guest of Honor, Lt. Shukla, recalled his college days when he entered the hall and greeted the students with the slogan “Josephites are dynamites.” He encouraged the young minds saying, “One must take pride in what we do and as a Josephite we have the potential to go forward and achieve your dreams.”
Rev. Fr. Jason appreciated the management for inviting him for the ceremony. He also added that the students of SJEC are gifted with lot of talents and they should use it for the service of others. He said, “I always had great respect for the students of SJEC who work during the day and learn in the evening. This effort of yours makes each one of extraordinary as you participate in all events and discover oneself.” He encouraged the students to dream big, participate in every event and realize one’s potential. A Josephite always upholds the principles and values of life such as faith, truth and honesty, he added.
The dignitaries distributed the prizes and congratulated all the participants and winners.
Mr. Jeffin Lijo, Asst. Professor, Department of English proposed the Vote of Thanks.
