Winds of Change: SJEC gets new Student Council team

The student council for the academic year 2020-21 was chosen by the staff coordinators headed by Ms. Shilpa Nataraj, the Student Governor. After careful deliberation, the Cultural and Sports secretaries were selected for B.A, B.Com, BBA and BCA.

The Cultural Secretaries for the academic year are Dhanush Babu (III B.A-H.E.P); Amina Khanum (III B.Com, A); Amil Roy (III BBA); Saurav Singh (III.B.Com- B) and Naveen Kumar (III BCA). The sports secretaries include Yesu (III B.Com A); Likith (III B.Com-A); Aanchal Singh (III BA- JPS); Deepa. S (III BBA);and Rakesh G (III BCA).

The newly formed student council of 2020 chose as its theme, "From Distress to De-stress to Progress." This was chosen keeping in view the current Pandemic. As the council puts it: β€˜β€™the purpose of education is to progress despite all the trials and tribulations.’’ The student council hopes to be a stepping stone in SJEC students' path to actualisation through various events.

The mission of St. Joseph's Evening College (Autonomous) is to build a group of young men and women who would be agents of change to society. The student council plays a vital role in accomplishing it. The council, consisting of secretaries and representatives, with the help of the staff, actively engages with the students by addressing their concerns, at the same time, ensures the students imbibe the college's core values. The council conducts various programmes that serve as a platform for the students to exhibit their talents.
